As a club we have many activities which you can get involved in. Get in touch with us to find out how.
Club Night – Summer Season
We usually meet at about 5.00pm on a Thursday night, throughout the summer, at High Farm in Old Whittington. We either travel to Matlock Bath, to paddle the river Derwent, or to Poolsbrook Country Park near Stavley where we paddle on the lake. Everyone is welcome to our club nights, however please get in touch before you come so that we will be expecting you.
Slalom Training- On hold!
There are many different slalom competitions throughout the summer from novice to world class events. Slalom is a competitive sport, however if the competition side of things is not for you, or you just fancy a go, there will be no pressure to be number one! You can just go along and have a fun day out. There are many events on the calendar on the programme which you could come along to. Division 3/4 competitions are the novice events at which anyone can enter. For more information on slalom, including rules and entry costs go to www.canoeslalom.co.uk or contact us.
We are not holding our winter training sessions this year due to a lack of qualified coaches with time to spare although more experienced paddlers are welcome to take our slalom boats out on the river on a normal club night session to practice. However we do have contacts we can pass on to you if you are interested in trying slalom paddling.
Division 4 competitions are on gentle or even flat water so even those relatively new to canoeing can try it!

River Trips
We host a number of river trips throughout the year, from novice trips to more advanced white water trips. The programme is not too precise about where the trips will be held because it will depend on the water levels nearer the time. As soon as the location for the trip has been decided it will be posted on the programme page and we will email those who have expressed an interest in attending.
River trips are usually on Saturdays and consist of roughly 8-9 O’clock starts and about 4-6 O’clock finishes, depending on the location and length of trip.
‘Crowson’s Crew’ – On hold for the winter!
Crowson’s crew is our Tuesday night group who paddle on Chesterfield canal. They are made up of a huge range of ages and abilities. The welcome anyone, and this session is particularly suitable for beginners. We don’t run during the winter as it’s generally too cold and the weather is often unsuitable for comfort at a novice level.

Pool Sessions
Through the winter we meet at Graves Leisure Centre in Norton in the warmth of the swimming pool. This is a great place to learn the basics or improve your skills.
